Seit 2005 ist die Abk\u00fcrzung f\u00fcr &#8222;Asynronous Javascript and XML&#8220; ein legitimes Buzzword. Um gerecht zu sein, muss man sagen, dass es sich nat\u00fcrlich nicht nur um einen lang anhaltenden Trend handelt. Und wenn man nicht allzu pingelig ist, merkt man sogar schnell, dass es sich bei dem ganzen Gehype um die WordPress REST API keineswegs um eine Revolution, sondern um eine Evolution handelt.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ich habe zu dem Thema k\u00fcrzlich beim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/it-IT\/WordPress-Meetup-Milano\/\">WordPress Meetup in Mailand<\/a> einen Vortrag halten. Bisher wurde zur WordPress REST API ja schon so einiges vorgetragen. Aber &#8211; meiner Meinung nach &#8211; waren die bisher vorgetragenen Inhalte vor allem eher genereller Natur, und das f\u00fchrt in manchen F\u00e4llen nur zu noch mehr Verunsicherung unter den Benutzern. Vor allem, wenn es um ganz allgemein Fragen etwa zum &#8222;Warum und Wie&#8220; oder um Dauerbrenner wie die Sicherheit der eigenen WordPress-Installation geht, nur um dem Thema noch ein bisschen Pep zu geben.<\/p>\n<p>Meine Einleitung zum Thema diente zuerst als Ventil, um da gleich ein wenig Luft aus m\u00f6glicherweise sofort aufkommenden Pro- und Kontra-Diskussionen zu nehmen. Ich nehme das Thema n\u00e4mlich durchaus ernst und habe in den letzten Monaten so einige Projekte &#8222;RESTful&#8220; gemacht. Diejenigen, die mit PHP und JavaScript nicht unbedingt auf Du und Du stehen, hatte ich bei der Erstellung der Folien auch im Sinn. Ich habe versucht, mich nur auf das Notwendigste zu beschr\u00e4nken; trotzdem wollte ich Beispiele bringen, die das Konzept gut erkl\u00e4ren.<\/p>\n<p>Leider gibt es von dem Vortrag kein Video. Ich mache den eventuell noch einmal mit meinen Kollegen auf Englisch und lasse mich dabei filmen. Meine urspr\u00fcngliche Idee basierte auf der Implementierung eines PHP Generators f\u00fcr die Fibonacci-Zahlenreihe. Hier habe ich im Github Repository <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lloc\/fibonacci\">fibonacci<\/a> tats\u00e4chlich einen Branch <em>ajax-endpoints<\/em> mit einer klassischen AJAX-Umsetzung und einen Branch <em>master<\/em>, der die WordPress REST API Callbacks einsetzt und von dem ich glaube, dass er das Konzept RESTful gut her\u00fcberbringt.<\/p>\n<p>Letztlich habe ich aber meine urspr\u00fcngliche Idee aber verworfen und eine stark vereinfachte Form in einem anderen Repository verarbeitet. Ich musste meinen Zuh\u00f6rern gerecht werden, die zu einem gro\u00dfen Teil eher aus Anwendern und Designern bestehen und die vermutlich nur sehr bedingt Spa\u00df mit Fibonacci gehabt h\u00e4tten. Herausgekommen ist dabei\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lloc\/simple-ping\">Simple Ping<\/a>.
